The famous ancient irrigation project, Dujiangyan, is a world cultural heritage, and the national key scenic spot. It was highly praised as the unprecedented unique treasure of Sichuan. More than 2200 years, it keeps benefiting people and plays an important role. Dujiangyan Irrigation Project is the oldest, best preserved irrigation project which controls water without a dam.

    Dujiangyan, located on the Minjiang River in the west of Chengdu Plain, is 56km away from Chengdu city. It's a large hydraulic project constructed under the supervision of the governor of Shujun Libing and his sons, in Warring States Period over 2,000 years ago. The project composes of three main parts: Yuzui, Feishayan and Baopingkou. Thus, the ferocious water in MinJiang River is divided into inner and outer river (the outer river is to alleviate floodwater, while the inner river is to help irrigation). The project appropriately solved the problems such as floodwater alleviation, sand disposal, and water volume control, etc. Thus, the west Sichuan Plain became a land of abundance. There are many place of interest, and also it is a good place for traveling.
