Tibetan, whose ancient name was Tubo, proclaimed itself "Bo" and "Boba". There are some other names, such as "Kangba", "Anduowa", "Gelin", "Jiarongwa", etc, because Tibetan in different regions has different appellations. In Sichuan, there is a big Tibetan population of 1 million, mainly scattering in the plateau area in northwest, is the largest Tibetan habitat in our country, besides Tibet. In addition, Tibetan also scatter in Liangzhou region in southwest.

    The art of Tangga and Suyouhua are traditional art of Tibetan. Tibetan residential architectures in Sichuan mostly are constructed relying on mountain and built by laying stones. Tibetan always lives together and develops into a village. In pasturing area, Tibetan mainly live in tents, because herders must keep finding water source to settle down. In winter, herders will reside into buildings: "Gengsha" which has the timverwork.

    Qiang nationality, an ancient nationality which has an history of thousands of years, proclaims itself as "Erma", "Ermai", "Rima" or "Rimai'. Qiang nationality, mainly scatters in Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture, county of Mao, Beichuan Qiang Autonomous County in Mianyang City, etc. Sichuan is the only one place where Qiang nationality gathers.

    The top peculiarity of Qiang nationality's religious belief is white-stone worship, which can be traced back to the period before Qin Dynasty and lasts until today. In numerous sacrifices, the most frequent one is the pilgrimage to God of Heaven, and the most ceremonious one is the pilgrimage to God of Mountain.

    Qiang's clothing has bright features. On clothes, there's no difference on style between man and woman. but on ornaments. People of Qiang nationality all wear linen gown, weaved by themselves, and sheepskin short gown outerwear,. And they wrap scarf, wrap leg, and wear sash. Men don't wear any decoration. However, women wear clothes with lace, or a club-shaped tiny silver adornment, and floriated sashes. They prefer to silver earbobs, rings, pipes, and silver cards, etc. In addition, they always put on cuspidal shoes with embroidered cases, and its local name is "Yunyunjiao".

    The architecture of Qiang nationality has been famous for its unique art form and consummate skill, among which the stone building and the rope bridge can show the features especially.

    Yi nationality in Liang Mountain call themselves "Nuosu". The legend, which is popular among people of Yi, believes that the ancestor of Yi nationality was Guhou and Qunie, two primitive tribes, which could be traced backed to more than 2000 years ago and settled in Zizi Puwu ( today's Zhaotong area in Yunnan).

    Yi nationality chose black tiger as their totem, which they believe can transfer and spread their unique charms. They created antiquated syllable character, in which one character representing one meaning, and the total number of the characters was more than 10,000. And, they created their own culture by their characters, and left a lot of abundant literature heritages. In Sichuan, the widespread masterpieces are like epic poetry, such as Eleteyi, Amonire and etc, and some of them describ the ancient legends about the origin and developing process of human, while others show the young man's determination to fight for love and freedom.

    People of Yi can both sing and dance.

    In festivals, people of Yi always are full-dressed and perform festive singing and dancing, which obviously exhibits the unique custom and endless energy of Yi nationality, such as the New Year's Day (according to solar calendar of Yi nationality), the Firebrand Festival ( June, 24th in Jia calendar), etc.

    The clothing of Yi nationality is decent, delicate and colorful. It not only enriches people's life, embodying traditional culture of Yi nationality, but also enlightens the visitors who like beautiful wears on designing and selecting clothes.

     Sichuan Opera is a most featured art of Sichuan Province. Sichuan Opera became popular in Sichuan, Yunnan and Guizhou Provinces, with abundant traditional repertoires.

    Gong and drum play an important role in the music of Sichuan Opera, including typical small drum, hall drum, large gong, large cymbal and small gong (also as Jiaozi), which are called "five methods", added by strings and Chinese oboe (total 6 methods), and commanded by small drum.

    Sichuan Opera has profound convention of realism and has acquired unique and ideal performance procedure, which enables it to be true, delicate, humorous and with strong sense of living. Many of its incomparable skills, including sustaining, eye opening, face changing, fire circle crossing and knife hiding, make the stage colorful, secret and ever changing.

    There are various kinds of folk festivals in Sichuan. The most traditional and popular festivals are numerous, such as Chengdu Lantern Carnival and Flower Exposition in Chengdu, Peach-flower Festival in Longquan, Singing Contest in Wangcong Ancestral Temple in Pixian county, Dinosaur Lantern Festival in Zigong. Water-Pouring Festival in Dujiangyan, Dragon Boat Festival in Wutongqiao county, Girls's Day in Guangyuan, Baobao Festival in Guanghan, etc.

    Yi nationality in Liang Mountain has Firebrand Festival and New Years' Festival; Tibetan has Temple Fair in Huanglong monastery, Horse-Riding competition on Tagong prairie, Zhuanshan Festival in Kangding, Exi Festival of Muli Tibetan, Festival of Flower Admiration in Maerkang, Singing Contest in Baima and New Years' Festival in Tibetan calendar; Mosuo people around Lugu Lake has Chaoshan Festival (pilgrimage to mountain); Qiang nationality has Jishan Festival (pilgrimage to mountain), New Years' Festival and Dragon Boat Festival in Qiang's calendar; Shikuo Festival of Lsiu nation in Dechang area; and so on.
